The 2014 Golden Scroll Awards & Banquet
Atlanta, GA – AWSA (Advanced Writers and Speakers Association) announced the winners for the 2014 Golden Scroll Awards for Publisher, Editor, and Fiction Editor of the Year as well as the winners of their Books of the Year contests at the 2014 Golden Scroll Awards, Sunday afternoon, June 22 nd at the World Congress Convention Center. Honored for outstanding ministry partnerships with their authors, the Golden Scroll Publisher of the Year went to Abingdon Press.
The winner of the Nonfiction Editor of the Year went to Katara Patton of Tyndale House Publishers.
The Fiction Editor of the Year was awarded to Stephanie Broene of Tyndale House.
AWSA Nonfiction Book of the Year Award winners were named as Dena Dyer and Tina Samples for Wounded Women of the Bible from Kregal Publications which tied for first place with Julie Zine Coleman for Unexpected Love from Thomas Nelson. Second place went to Cynthia Ruchti for Ragged Hope published by Abingdon Press. Third place went to Emily Parke Chase for Standing Tall After Falling Short from Wingspread.
The Novel of the Year first place award went to Eva Marie Everson for Slow Moon Rising: A Cedar Key Novel from Revell which also tied with The Ohana by C. W. Schutter from River Ranch Publishing. Second place was awarded to Sarah Sundin for On Distant Shores from Revell, and third place was awarded to The Survivor by DiAnn Mills from Zondervan.
CAN (Christian Authors Network) also announced their Nonfiction and Novel Books of the Year awards. The CAN Nonfiction Book of the Year first place award went to Kathy Collard Miller for Partly Cloudy with Scattered Worries published by Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas. Second place was awarded to Cecil Murphey and Twila Belk for I Believe in Heaven from Regal. The third place winner was Dianne Barker for I Don’t Chase the Garbage Truck Down the Street in My Bathrobe Anymore.
The first place CAN Fiction Book of the Year was awarded to Cynthia Ruchti for All My Belongings from Abingdon Press, second place went to On Distant Shores by Sarah Sundin from Revell , and third place was awarded to Lena Nelson Dooley for Catherine’s Pursuit from Charisma House Book Group.
In addition, the 2014 AWSA Member of the Year Award went to Arlene Pellicane and the Beyond Me Award went to Grace Fox. The prestigious 2014 Golden Scroll Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Jerry B. Jenkins.Jenkins served as the keynote speaker with Stacy Hawkins Adams as emcee. Authors Carol Kent, Pam Farrel, Linda Evans Shepherd and Kathy Macias presented the awards. Recording artist Gwen Smith performed a parody written by Martha Bolton dedicated to editors and publishers
