Bio:

Martha was the first woman staff writer for Bob Hope (1980s and ‘90s), writing his television specials, personal appearances, and military shows. She is the author of over eighty books of humor and inspiration. Her newest, Dear Bob…  Bob Hope’s Wartime Correspondence with the GIs of WW2 (University Press of Mississippi, 2021), has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning with Jane Pauley, ABC News, NPR, Fox News, TalkRadio Europe, Closer Weekly magazine, and other media outlets. Martha has received nominations for an Emmy, a Dove Award, and a WGA Award, and is a prolific playwright with ten musicals playing in five states. Two of the musicals are based on her novels, Josiah for President and The Home Game. The Home Game also received a 2017 Golden Scrolls Merit Award. Martha and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2020 with a pandemic-inspired drive-by car parade of family and friends. Martha’s life motto is: “Life’s tough, God’s good, and laughter is calorie-free.”
