Rona Shirdan
BIO:
Rona Shirdan is the founder of Writing with EEEs, providing one-on-one service to empower, equip, and encourage picture book writers on their writing journey. She is a freelance writer, editor, and coach with a love of picture books and a passion for supporting new writers.
She is committed to the process of peace building in the areas of social justice and diversity. Her focus is on children’s literature and partnering with organizations that embrace these initiatives. Rona wants all children to feel seen and valued through the books they read, while also learning to appreciate others with different experiences. In addition, she works to ensure that all creatives have a safe and supportive space in which to produce these stories.
She is the Customer Experience Coordinator and Ambassador for The Highlights Foundation. She serves as the Co-Regional Advisor for the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). Rona is a member of ACFW, the 12 x 12 Challenge, has volunteered with We Need Diverse Books, and served as a judge for the Christian Book Award (ECPA).
She has two grown sons and lives near Philadelphia with her husband, Andre, and her cat named Lola. Her love for the Lord can be seen in her relationships and in her service to her church in many areas. Her published work is curriculum with Union Gospel Press and a leveled reader, Wangari Maathai: Mother of Trees (Benchmark Education).
