Becky Carpenter

Bio:
Becky Carpenter has been an educator over 25 years. She holds a BS degree in Business and a MS degree in Education Administration. Included in her experience is being a high school business & technology teacher; a Corporate Director of Education and Training and Continuous Improvement Advisor for a Fortune 500 company; and both a campus and district level public & private school administrator.
She believes educators are the true, unspoken missionaries, as they walk into a life changing mission field every single day. Although she loved working with teenagers, her heart was called into her current role, serving full time in the field of ministry and missions. She is an ordained minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ as she travels abroad to foreign mission fields teaching about the ‘hope’ found only in Jesus.
Becky is humbled at all the opportunities she’s given working with students and adults. She feels privileged and blessed to be given opportunities to speak to various churches, ladies’ conferences, ladies’ retreats, youth events, business events, as well as other venues to share about life changing experiences. Becky is the founder of ‘One Day Closer Ministries’ where she is a Christian Motivational Speaker who travels across the US and globally to bring uplifting and encouraging messages of perseverance and hope. She’s had the honor of speaking to students and ladies in the countries of Haiti, Honduras, and Guatemala. She has also been blessed with the opportunity to speak with the Native American ladies of the ‘Navajo Nation’ in Winslow, Arizona. Becky is also a missionary as ODC Ministries partners with other non-profits to help meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of others, both here in the United States and abroad.
Becky has been married to her husband, David for 31 years. When asked what is her greatest accomplishment, she will not hesitate to say it is her two beautiful daughters. Her oldest daughter Shelbi who graduated magna cum laude from Texas A & M University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and recently completed a Master’s degree in Social Work. Shelbi is a full-time elementary teacher and loves working with children who struggle with the challenges and tragedies in life where she can also share about the hope found in Jesus. Shelbi is married to her husband Matt, who is a youth pastor. Matt also brings into the family two beautiful little girls who are 8 and 10 years old. Shelbi and Matt in October, 2019, brought into this world a handsome baby boy named ‘Carter’ and these 3 little humans have given Becky the title of ‘Bebe.’
Becky’s youngest daughter Skylar is a free-spirited, fun-loving typical teenager who illuminated the light of Jesus as she loved everyone unconditionally in her own, animated and contagious personality. Becky shares the journey that began in 2011 when her youngest daughter Skylar, at the age of 15, went home to be with Jesus as a result of a tragic car crash while traveling on a school trip. Becky was the HS Vice Principal at the time and arrived on the scene to discover the one student fatality was her own daughter. The journey of seeing ‘hope THROUGH tragedy’ began that day.
Becky is not a speaker who dwells on the tragedy, but rather shifts our perspective toward the light even while traveling ‘through’ the darkest of times. She uses humor and laughter throughout her presentations and the audiences leave with both tears of laughter and tears of joy as she allows others to SEE joy and believe the HOPE that awaits those who follow Jesus.
Regardless of her resume, accomplishments, or travels, Becky is now known best as ‘a typical mom.’ A mom who’s relaying the message of her youngest daughter Skylar, who is changing the world…one person at a time. “…in this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
