Joan, in collaboration with several other women, have recently begun a speaking ministry group in the Hampton Roads Area of VA, sharing testimonies of God’s shaping work in their lives. She has also been an active volunteer for the local crisis pregnancy centers, and a spokesperson for their pro-life ministry. Elk Lake Publishing, Inc., recently released Joan’s debut historical fiction novel entitled His Gift in July, 2020. Through her eyes and imagination, Joan weaves the tale of her gifted mother’s life as an aspiring professional pianist disrupted by the onset of The Great Depression. The message of His Gift is universal to anyone who has ever dared to dream in spite of uncontrollable circumstances. The reader will discover with Molly, the hope and peace in a life when yielded to the Giver of all gifts. Joan’s passion in life is to inspire and encourage others with the truth of Jesus Christ. Joan and her husband, Jan Benson, live in Chesapeake, VA, and travel as often as they can to visit their four adult children and eight amazing grandchildren, ages eight to twenty-eight.
