In 2009, Sonya created the company, Moving In My Gifts, LLC as God showed her in Proverbs 18:16: “A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men,” (www.movinginmygifts.com). Sonya attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate years and earned two bachelor degrees in English and Music. Sonya has also been blessed to earn post graduate degrees in order to enhance her gifts of teaching and leadership. She wrote her first book in 2004 called, “Young Warren Sings!” (Vantage Press) which was featured at the International Black Film Festival in 2009 in Nashville, Tennessee. She is also a professional operatic singer who has toured internationally, performed on recent and numerous occasions as a soloist with the Nashville Opera, and the Nashville Symphony Chorus and Orchestra, in addition to the filmed role and portrayal of Marian Anderson in the operatic musical story, “Portraits,” which premiered at Middle Tennessee State University in 2016. In addition to writing and editing for several projects, she has managed to write, edit and publish in 2018 the book, “4REAL,” a book for teenagers using teaching/educational lesson plans to encourage teens to know that it is possible to live a godly life. Her latest project published in 2019, “Living Beneath” is the story of a mother and daughter’s relationship before, during and after dementia. Sonya continues to move in her gifts and can’t wait to see what God will do next!
