The awards were presented by Monica Schmelter, host of \u201cBridges,\u201d a daily program on the Christian Television Network (CTN). This is the 12th year that AWSA has presented the Golden Scroll Awards. Jones and Karla Dornacher for \u201cDiscovering Jesus in the Old Testament: A Creative Devotional Study Experience\u201d (Harvest House Publishers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Novel of the Year Award went to DiAnn Mills for \u201cFatal Strike\u201d (Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Children\u2019s Nonfiction Book of the Year was awarded to two authors: Michelle Medlock Adams for \u201cHow Much Does God Love You\u201d (WorthyKids) and Crystal Bowman for \u201cLittle Duckling\u2019s Easter Prayers (Zonderkids).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for Children\u2019s Nonfiction Book of the Year went to Michelle Medlock Adams for \u201cCuddle Up Prayers\u201d (WorthyKids). Third place went to Michelle Lazurek \u201cThe Best Gift of All\u201d (Elk Lake Publishing, Inc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Children\u2019s Fiction Book of the Year was awarded to Donna Frisinger for \u201cBink and Slinky\u2019s Christmas Adventure\u201d (Progressive Rising Phoenix Press).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for Children\u2019s Fiction Book of the Year went to Michelle Medlock Adams for \u201cI Love You Bigger Than the Sky\u201d (WorthyKids). Third place went to Michele McCarthy for \u201cDaddy and Me\u201d (Redemption Press).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christian Education Book of the Year was awarded to Cynthia L. Simmons for \u201cPursuing Gold: A Historical &amp; Critical Thinking Curriculum\u201d (Elk Lake Publishing, Inc.).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for Christian Educational Book of the Year went to Pamela Christian for \u201cPrepare for the Harvest! God\u2019s Challenge to the Church Today\u201d (Protocol, Ltd.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bible Study Book of the Year was awarded for two books: Pam Farrel, Jean E. Jones and Karly Dornacher wrote \u201cDiscovering Joy in Philippians: A Creative Devotional Study Experience\u201d (Harvest House Publishers), and Misty Phillip authored \u201cThe Struggle Is Real: But So Is God\u201d (MistyPhillip.com).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for Bible Study Book of the Year went to Jennifer Smith Lane for \u201cTransformed: Eating and Body Image Renewal God\u2019s Way\u201d (Jennifer Sue Lane). Third place went to Janet H. McHenry for \u201cStronger Every Day\u201d (First Place for Health).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Memoir of the Year was awarded for two books: Ginny Dent Brant wrote \u201cUnleash Your God-Given Healing: Eight Steps to Prevent and Survive Cancer\u201d (WestBow Press), and Luann Mire, with Patti Richter, wrote \u201cSigns of His Presence: Experiencing God\u2019s Comfort in Times of Suffering\u201d (Carpenter\u2019s Son Publishing).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for Memoir of the Year went to Lisa W. Smith and Thanh D. Boyer for \u201cThe Ground Kisser\u201d (Kerysso Press). Third place went to Paula Jauch for \u201cCross Addicted: Breaking Free from Family Trauma and Addiction\u201d (Redemption Press).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christian Living Book of the Year went to Robin Luftig for \u201cGod\u2019s Best During Your Worst: Living Under His Umbrella\u201d (Bold Vision Books).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for Christian Living Book of the Year went to Tina Yeager for \u201cBeautiful Warrior: Finding Victory Over the Lies Formed Against You\u201d (New Hope Publishers). Third place went to Lucinda Secrest McDowell for \u201cSoul Strong: 7 Keys to a Vibrant Life\u201d (New Hope Publishers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Devotional Book of the Year went to Lucinda Secrest McDowell for \u201cLife-Giving Choices: 60 Days to What Matters Most\u201d (New Hope Publishers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for Devotional Book of the Year went to Leigh Ann Thomas for \u201cSmack Dab in the Midlife Zone: Inspiration for Women in the Middle\u201d (Elk Lake Publishing, Inc.). Third place went to Karen Whiting for \u201c52 Weekly Devotions for Families Called to Serve\u201d (Rose Publishing).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Inspirational Gift Book of the Year went to Adria Wilkins for \u201cThe Joy Box Journal\u201d (Ellie Claire Gifts).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for Inspirational Gift Book of the Year went to Michelle Medlock Adams for \u201cEncouraging Words for Mothers (Morning &amp; Evening): Daily Devotions for a Mother\u2019s Soul\u201d (Barbour Books). Third place went to Cynthia Cavanaugh for \u201cShe Writes for Him: Stories of Resilient Faith\u201d (Romans 8:28 Books: An Imprint of Redemption Press).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Western Novel of the Year went to Janet Chester Bly for \u201cBeneath a Camperdown Elm\u201d (Bly Books).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Historical Novel of the Year was awarded to Jocelyn Green for \u201cVeiled in Smoke\u201d (Bethany House Publishers).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jocelyn Green also received second place for \u201cBetween Two Shores\u201d (also from Bethany House Publishers). Third place for Historical Novel of the Year went to Rebecca Price Janney for \u201cSweet, Sweet Spirit: One Woman\u2019s Spiritual Journey to the Asbury College Revival\u201d (Elk Lake Publishing, Inc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Contemporary Novel of the Year was awarded to Kaley and Rhonda Rhea for \u201cOff-Script &amp; Over-Caffeinated: A Novel\u201d (Bold Vision Books).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for Contemporary Novel of the Year went to June Chapko for \u201cLegacy\u2019s Path\u201d (Legacy Treasures). Third place went to Deborah Raney for \u201cChasing Dreams\u201d (Kregel Publications).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mystery\/Suspense Novel of the Year went to Carrie Stuart Parks for \u201cFragment of Fear\u201d (Thomas Nelson).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for the Mystery\/Suspense Novel of the Year went to Catherine Finger for \u201cCapsized by Death\u201d (Elk Lake Publishing, Inc.). Third place went to Lori Altebaumer for \u201cA Firm Place to Stand\u201d (BookBaby).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Arise Daily Writer of the Year was awarded to Sheri Schofield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AWSA\u2019s official magazine, \u201cLeading Hearts,\u201d won their sixth straight Evangelical Press Association Merit award. The \u201cLeading Hearts\u201d Columnist of the Year went to Saundra Dalton Smith for her column, \u201cHealth Tracks.\u201d Article of the Year went to Lisa Burns for her article, \u201cBreakthrough the Movie: An Exclusive Interview with Pastor Jason Noble.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2020 AWSA Member of the Year Award went to Edie Melson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jennifer Kennedy Dean Award went to Janet Holm McHenry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Stormie Omartian in honor of&nbsp;AWSA, the sponsor of the Golden Scroll Awards Banquet, is an outreach of Right to the Heart Ministries and consists of over 600 top women authors who both publish and speak nationally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>This is the first year to present the all new Christian Market Book Awards. These awards are open to all authors who publish in the Christian market.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christian Market Novel of the Year was awarded to Anne Greene for \u201cShadow of the Dagger\u201d (Elk Lake Publishing, Inc.).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for the Christian Market Novel of the Year was awarded for two books: C. Kevin Thompson wrote \u201cThe Letters\u201d (Mantle Rock Publishing LLC), and Buck Storm and Bill Perkins wrote \u201cThe List\u201d (Compass Publishing). Third place went to Jeanette Morris for \u201cHer Shining Eyes: A Novel\u201d (Bold Vision Books).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christian Market Nonfiction Book of the Year went to Lauren Crews for \u201cStrength of a Woman: Why You are Proverbs 31\u201d (Ascender Books).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for the Christian Market Nonfiction Book of the Year went to Rhonda Robinson for \u201cFreeFall: Holding onto Faith When the Unthinkable Strikes\u201d (New Hope Publishers). Third place went to Michelle Medlock Adams and Bethany Jett for \u201cThey Call Me Mom: 52 Encouraging Devotions for Every Moment\u201d (Kregel Academic &amp; Professional).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christian Market Children\u2019s Book of the Year was awarded to Michelle Medlock Adams for \u201cI Love You Bigger than the Sky\u201d (WorthyKids).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second place for the Christian Market Children\u2019s Book of the Year went to Amy Houts for \u201cGod\u2019s Protection Covers Me\u201d (Beaming Books).
