BIO:

Kari is an author, writer and sought-after speaker who connects with women by responding to their everyday challenges and lifelong struggles. Since 1998 she appeared on over a hundred radio and television programs across the U.S. and Canada on the topics of pornography, divorce, single-parenting, and life’s losses. She contributes to numerous anthologies, including the New York Times bestselling series Chicken Soup for the Soul, and to women’s websites for Campus Crusade and the Salvation Army. She authored two books, Dare to Trust, Dare to Hope Again and When He Leaves, and teaches workshops at local and national writers’ conferences.

Through her Take Hope to Heart Ministry, she speaks at women’s conferences, pastors’ wives retreats and divorce recovery groups. Her message is down-to-earth: bad things happen to good people, life-giving to anyone grieving the death of a dream, and uplifting to those needing hope and encouragement. Kari draws from a deep well of seasoned faith and experiential wisdom that includes surviving unwanted divorce, being a single working mom, and reconciling with health issues. With transparency and compassion, she invites audiences to cultivate their relationship with “the God of Hope” (Romans 15:13), who is greater than our worst fear or circumstance.

Today Kari resides in the Northern California foothills with her husband and their yellow Lab named Bella. She is an avid reader and a Master Gardener with the University of California Cooperative Extension Office. She is the mother of a grown daughter and a grandmother.
